Podcasting

Today I met up with two teachers from Building Structures & Services at NMIT. We tried a new way of recording for podcasts, instead of going up to people during their workshop or class time and getting interviews we got two teachers in a class room all day.

These guys went through the main student resource and we started recording their teachings in OH&S applied to the construction industry. We used an iPhone to record all of their comments. There were plenty of breaks during the day, when they got some wind up they picked up the recorder and went for it.

It tended to be easier to interview them using open ended questions rather than them using scripts. The info flowed in a more relaxed way as the day went on. I think that being there and recording for that length of time left them pretty exhausted though. It was a great day we got about 18 or 20 voice recordings of between 15 and 20 minutes each.

I hope we can continue with this method of intense recording as it has now left me with a lot in the can and much editing to look forward to.
